Nelson Art Gallery(1)

On the lecture 10 of design 1 class, professor Housefield show us a quilt from Avis C. Robinson’s collections which are showing at the Nelson Art Gallery now, the collections are call “African American Quilts”. At the time professor show us the quilt, he also show us two word pattern and rhythm. The quilt he show us has a red blue and white line, fabric texture, Avis C. Robinson use those three colors to form a pattern and then do a repetition in a opposite direction; in between those three basic color, Avis also randomly use color like yellow black and pink to show every pattern is different. I guess what Avis done is call rhythm.
This quilt that Avis C. Robinson made do create a illusion of motion, when you look at it from far away, there is like a “Cross” pop up from the back ground, this happens in some of the quilt she made, some of them will create illusion like a swirl try to catch my focal point into the center.
