Nelson Art Gallery(2)

Last week I went to the Nelson Art Gallery to look at my Des 1 blog idea, when I got in there, I saw some “African American Quilts” that is Avis C. Robinson’s collections.
Although some people may think those quilt are so normal, nothing will interest them; but to me as a artist, I understand how much time she could spend on this quits, on those fabric texture, she has to use her needlework still to connect with other fabric, to create pattern and use the pattern she made and rhythm them in the whole quits.
The quilt she made, like to use line to create sharp. Some of them even create illusion when people look in to it. She also like to use different fabric to make those quilt, the one I like has a recycle idea, she use jeans that she collect and cut them to rectangle sharp to from a square, then she connect the pattern with and other “jean square” in a different angel and repeat them couple times so it could be rhythm in the quilt.
As I think, what did Avis C. Robinson made is what we always talking at “Design in Society”, because for some people, what she made is only a quilt to keep them warm when they feel cold, but for artist its art. Now for me “Design in Society” means everything in our life is could be art.
